The walnut is one of the miracles created by the nature which on set of useful properties has almost not equal in flora. Vacuum packing of nut kernels of walnut allows to keep all nutritional and gustatory qualities of walnut.
The walnut, voloshsky nut (Jglans regia), Tree of family nut, 20-30 m high and more, diameter of trunk is up to 1,5 m. The krone is dense, shirokookrugly. Leaves large (dlina20-40 cm), neparnoperistoslozhny, for the winter falling down, fragrant (from essential oil). Of the lake — vlago-and photophilous breed. Best of all grows on moderately wet carbonate loams with the low and constant level of ground waters. Forms the powerful, deeply getting into the soil root system. Blossoms in April — May; fruits ripen in September — October. Fructification of vaccinated trees comes from 8 — 10 years and continues till 150 — 200 years. The harvest of nuts from one tree (at the age of 30 — 50 years) makes 65 — 100 kg (sometimes to 250 kg). Of the lake naturally grows in Asia Minor, on the Balkan Peninsula, in Iran, China, in culture — in the USA, southwest part of Europe and in the USSR. In Transcaucasia meets in wild state seldom, but it is widespread in culture and feral state; in the south of the European part of the USSR gets divorced in gardens. Large number of versions and grades occurs among wild and feral thickets and in cultural plantings of G. of the lake. From local plantings grades are allocated: Bulgarian, Gassarsky, Ideal, Kazakhstan, Homeland, Tonkoskorlupy, Uzbek early, etc. The lake contains kernel (in %): fats 45 — 77, proteins 8 — 21; B1 vitamin, primary vitamin And. Immature nuts are rich with vitamin C; go for preparation of jam. Ripe kernels are eaten fresh, in culinary and confectionery productions. From nuts extract nut oil (goes to food, it is applied to preparation of varnishes, high-grade soap, typographical ink, ink), wood is appreciated in joiner's, turning and construction business, especially flows on trunks, so-called caps from which manufacture the best grades of plywood. From leaves, bark, green peel of fruits extract tannins, brown paint. Leaves and peel are applied in medicine and perfumery.
